Gateshead Soul Extended Committee meeting on 11th September, 2019
Pelaw Social Club

Apologies: David Allen, David Kenny, Roy Best, Mickey Barras, Andrew McInnes

Brief summary of the discussion:

  1. Supporter’s Trust Update:

We are working with the Football Supporter’s Federation to change the supporter’s association into a trust. We will have a representative of the FSA at our next meeting to explain the procedure to everyone as there is a legal process involved. Any changes would need to be ratified at a formal meeting.

  1. Position of vice-chair:

Following the departure of the former vice-chair, the position is vacant. A new vice-chair will be ratified at the next meeting.

  1. Position of treasurer:

Following the departure of the former treasurer Alan Weddle has been co-opted from the extended committee to join the executive committee in the position of treasurer. His position will be formally ratified at the next meeting.

  1. Boston game 14th September:

The club have been undertaking a big promotional push for this game in efforts to beat the crowd at the Spennymore match. Central taxis have been distributing and displaying posters around the Borough - posters are also available to download.

  1. Meet the Gaffers:

Talk-in September 15th featuring Mike Williamson, Ian Watson and Michael Nelson, hosted by Matthew Raisbeck. Free entry to Gateshead Soul members - tickets can be collected at the Boston game on the 14th or a guest list will be in place on the door. Non-members can purchase tickets for £10 from Gateshead Soul representatives or pay on the door. Food is included. Raffle prizes include 2 corporate tickets, a signed shirt by squad, a signed Gateshead Soul shirt by Mike, Ian and Michael. Raffle tickets are available at Boston game or on the night.

  1. PA Announcer:

Help is required for upcoming games.

Gateshead Soul are looking for local bands who would like their music featured at half time.

  1. Membership drive:

We have a target of 200 members by the end of the season. We currently have 126 members and 6 juniors. We are running various social media campaigns as well as increasing our presence on a match day. A stall will be set up on the concourse starting with the Boston game and information etc’ is also available at the club shop. As many members of the committee already have match day roles we need volunteers to help out.

  1. Quiz.

The Quiz hosted by Dave Allen will return to the Grey Nag’s Head on October 3rd and take place on the first Thursday of each month. We hope representatives from the club will attend.

  1. AOB:
  • A reminder that individual and company team sheet sponsorship is still available;
  • We are in the process of arranging with the club for a monthly draw for Soul members to win corporate tickets;
  • Membership cards will hopefully be available at the next meeting.
